Let us not wish our lives away

‘Let us not wish our lives away,
time, the ever constant, will not wait.
Unrequited love will be replaced.’

Her lover waits - he knows the detailed pattern
of her skin, her form, her shape.
And yet she cannot see.
Time does not allow her such reward.
Loves fantasy remains suppressed, contained.

When night comes, hard, brutal, to close his day,
she sleeps in undisturbed oblivion.
Temptation near, close, warm. He dare not touch.
But time records -
and daylight breaks another day.

She rises - fluid form her shape,
subtle curves ignite his flame. Sweet ecstasy and fantasy
she is his pure desire.
his life.
He tells her -

‘Let us not wish our lives away,
time, the ever constant, will not wait.
Unrequited love will be replaced.’

But still -

he waits.
