I watched the old woman
carefully.

she cut her cake in half
smiling; she said.

‘I've saved the last piece for you’
and passed it to him.

I watched the old man take the cake
carefully.

he cut the cake in half
smiling; he said.

‘I've saved the last piece for you’
and passed it back to her'.

and so their lives went…
